Give me my money!

TradFi, need I say more?

A few days ago I tried to transfer just £200 between two of my UK current accounts. Simple, right? It's my money, I've transferred plenty between the accounts before but I needed the money in the other account rather urgently yet I'm stuck waiting for an undefined period of time while my account is reviewed.

You'd like to think that in 2025, with all the technology we have at our disposal, that moving money around would be a simple task. Sadly, this is not the case. Banks are still using legacy systems that are slow, inefficient and prone to failure. The fact that I can't access my own money when I need it is laughable, especially given how fast a bank is to charge you fees for whatever they see fit.

I've had a long standing interest in Web3, blockchain technology, decentralisation and all things crypto but this is what has pushed me to DeFi. The promise of a financial system that is open, transparent and accessible to all is something that I believe in strongly. The idea that I can hold my own money, control my own assets and transact with anyone, anywhere in the world without the need for intermediaries is powerful.
